The hype around the Billy Bob Thorton Death Curse
A certain media entertainment blogger made a comment about Billy Bob Thorton’s costars including a statement that a number of people who had previously worked with him were injured or dead, and the rumors of a curse took off from there.
The statement suggested that Billy Bob Thorton’s costars seem to die untimely deaths after making a movie with him. Now considering how many movies Billy Bob Thorton has actually been in, and the very few costars that have died at young ages the percentage is pretty small.
The rumor started shortly after Bernie Mac’s death. Bernie Mac and Billy Bob were in the movie Bad Santas together. Bernie Mac died after a bout with pneumonia.
There have been a few other actors that have died at young ages that are being associated with this so called curse.
- John Ritter passed away after co starring with Thorton. John Ritter had an unnoticed heart condition, which led to his untimely death.
- J.T. Walsh is also a former Thorton costar who passed away suddenly.
- Heath Ledger died after a drug overdose.
- Other costars were Morgan Freeman and Shia LaBeouf who were both in car accidents and suffered injuries, but are otherwise fine.
- Patrick Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer shortly after working with Billy Bob which added more fuel to the already growing fire.
- Jim Varney’s death is also being attributed to the Billy Bob Thornton Death Curse. The last movie he was in, he costarred beside Billy Bob Thorton.
For some it seems a little ridiculous to make such connections, especially when each of these deaths would have allegedly happened regardless of which movie they starred in, wether it was with or without Billy Bob.
It is traditional for there to be some kind of Hollywood curse, and Billy Bob Thorton just happens to have that job at the moment. The Billy Bob Thorton death curse recently overtook the Dark Knight curse, which coincidentally Heath Ledger was also a part.
